The Calm Before the Shock
Samantha and David Harris had been looking forward to this ultrasound for months. As first-time parents, every milestone felt monumental: the first kick, the first heartbeat, the first time they saw a tiny hand move across the screen.
“We were excited, but also nervous,” Samantha recalls. “We had read everything, asked every question. We thought we knew what to expect.”
They arrived at the clinic, their anticipation mingled with the faint hum of machines and the occasional beeping of monitors. The technician, a kind woman with years of experience, guided them through the process. She dabbed warm gel onto Samantha’s belly and moved the probe carefully, murmuring observations to herself.
